چکیده

First identical-pion correlations measured at RHIC energies by PHENIX are presented. Two analyses with separate detectors, systematics, and statistics provide consistent results. The resulting HBT radii are moderately larger than those measured at lower energies. The kt dependence of the Bertsch-Pratt HBT radii is also similar to previous measures and is consistent with the conjecture of an expanding source.

Phase Transition Signature Results from PHENIX

The PHENIX experiment has conducted searches for the QCD critical point with measurements of multiplicity fluctuations, transverse momentum fluctuations, event-by-event kaon-to-pion ratios, elliptic flow, and correlations. Measurements have been made in several collision systems as a function of centrality and transverse momentum. The results do not show significant evidence of critical behavio...

BOSE-EINSTEIN CORRELATIONS IN PION PRODUCTION AT TRISTAN

Measurement of Bose-Einstein correlations in the production of like-signed pion pairs has been made with the AMY detector at TRISTAN. An event sample of 10120 hadronic events with ranging between 50 to 61 GeV was used. These measurements indicate a strength of the enhancement of ? = 0.61M.07, with a typical correlation size of Ro = 1.16±.08 fm. This value of ? is consistent with measurem...

Particle Correlations with the PHENIX Experiment

Results of identical pion correlations from the first year of data collection with the PHENIX detector at RHIC ( √ sNN=130GeV) are presented. PHENIX has good particle identification using an electromagnetic calorimeter for timing, leading to identified pions from .2 to 1 GeV/c. This extends the range of previously measured correlation radii at this energy to 〈kT 〉=633MeV/c. The beam energy depe...

26 v 2 2 8 Se p 20 02 1 Two - particle correlations measured by PHENIX in Au - Au collisions at √

In 2001, PHENIX measured particle correlations of identical charged pions and kaons at mid-rapidity in Au-Au collisions at √ s N N = 200 GeV. Bertsch-Pratt radius parameters of pion pairs are studied for 9 k T regions from 0.2 to 2.0 GeV/c and for 9 selections of collision centralities. The pion radius parameters are consistent with the result at √ s N N = 130 GeV, and the ratio R out /R side i...

Measurement of the neutral pion cross section in proton - proton collisions at √ s = 200 GeV with PHENIX

The inclusive cross section for neutral pion production in the range 1 < p T < 13 GeV/c in |η| < 0.35 has been measured by the PHENIX experiment in proton-proton collisions at √ s = 200 GeV. An NLO pQCD calculation is, within the experimental and theoretical uncertainties, consistent with the measurement.
